Will the price change once you start?
No. Our quote is fixed and itemised. If you add scope (extra sockets, an outside light) we price it in writing before we do it. The only time prices move is if you ask them to.
Are you actually qualified, or do you subcontract?
We don't subcontract. The person who quotes is the person who wires.
Pete's qualifications:
- NICEIC approved - the industry's most trusted electrical body audits us every year
- Part P registered - legally allowed to certify our own work
- City & Guilds 2391 - qualified to inspect and test other electricians' work, not just our own
- 18th Edition - current to the latest UK electrical safety regulations
Two more qualified electricians on the team. All on PAYE (no dodgy self-employed cover).
Will my house be unliveable during the rewire?
No. We work room by room. Power and hot water stay on overnight every night. The kitchen typically gets one full-day shutdown which we agree with you well in advance so you can plan around it.
How much mess will there be? Will the walls be made good?
Some dust is unavoidable. Here is what we do about it:
- Dust sheets daily. Down at start of day, up at end of day.
- We chase walls and run cables. We do not skim or paint.
- Each room is cleaned before we leave it.
- You need a decorator after us. We coordinate the timings so no overlap.
We explain all of this when quoting. No surprises.
What if something goes wrong six months after you finish?
Call us, no charge. Our workmanship guarantee is 10 years in writing. NICEIC’s insurance-backed warranty covers you for the same period even if our business were to stop trading.
Do you serve [my town]?
We cover BH and DT postcodes: Bournemouth, Poole, Christchurch, Ferndown, Wimborne, Verwood, Broadstone, Bearwood, Highcliffe, Ringwood. Outside that, ask - we travel for larger jobs.
How do stage payments work?
Every rewire over £3,000 runs on a transparent five-stage schedule tied to material delivery and progress milestones:
- 25% at end of Day 1 (first fix) - released once we have started on site and all first-fix materials have been delivered.
- 25% on completion of first fix.
- 25% at end of Day 1 of second fix - released once all second-fix materials are on site.
- 15% once sockets and lights are live and tested.
- 10% on full completion, paid before the Electrical Installation Certificate is handed over.
This protects you (no money for work not yet done) and protects us (materials are paid for before they are installed). Card, BACS or cheque.
